What year is this…?

It's new year! Woo hoo!

Now, raise your hand if you're still tired from the last one!

Yeah, me too.

Have you ever felt like starting anew in January doesn't feel natural? It's still dark, still cold, and we still want to hibernate. Well, there's a reason for that.

Brief history lesson: Since 1582, we've used something called the Gregorian calendar, which is the standard 12-month calendar we all know and love. But before that, in the time of the ancient Romans, we used to celebrate the new year in Spring (in fact, some cultures still do today), a time when the earth literally renews itself.

So, if you're not feeling the 'new year, new me' vibes just yet, give yourself some time to warm up. We don't always have to throw ourselves in headfirst.

Out Now: The Merry Christmas Murders

(Well, it actually came out at the end of November)

But yes, the children's audiobook I recorded at Strathmore Studios last year is out now on all major streaming platforms! It's a seasonal murder mystery featuring a group of young super-sleuths.

This one is a special one for me, as the main characters are all neurodivergent! And with the author, Alexandra Benedict, also being AuDHD, the representation is brilliant and actually made me tear up in places.

Growing up as a kid with undiagnosed autism and ADHD, there were so many scenarios and conversations in the book that very deeply resonated with me, and I'm sure that stories like this will make a lot of neurodivergent kids feel seen and heard.

Podcasthon 2026

This year, my podcast, Sleepless Creatives, will be taking part in Podcasthon 2026!

Podcasthon is a global online initiative that brings together podcasts with a charity or non-profit of their choice to help raise awareness for their cause through a special podcast episode released in March. The Podcast Space

A few months ago, I started having monthly coaching sessions with Ana Xavier from The Podcast Space.

These sessions have been such a huge help in determining my goals for the podcast and getting started on developing some great new ideas and collaborations...with one new project being particularly exciting (I'll be dropping more hints and info on this in the coming months, so stay tuned!)

That's it for this combined December/January edition of my life, until next time!
