Studios, Socials and Another Audiobook
This edition combines September and October because that way I have a lot more to shout about.
It's been another busy month over here, and with December fast approaching, I can feel the end-of-year burnout starting to tug on my sleeve - it's times like these when rest and self-care are needed more than ever, but always forgotten amongst the rush of "oh shit, it's Halloween already" and "oh shit, it's nearly Christmas"
So I'm here to remind you, don't forget about self-care and stop running yourself ragged. You don't have to push yourself harder because it's the end of the year; it's okay to start winding down and setting those goals for 2026.
That's right, I'm talking to YOU, the person reading this newsletter. I know you've been staying up too late and not folding your laundry.
I Went to a Studio :D
Que the mandatory recording studio selfie.
At the end of September, I was lucky enough to go to Soho Square Studios to record an in-person recall for an exciting kids' animation, woo!
And this one is getting a special shout-out because it was my first time recording in a studio since I got my first (and worst) voiceover reel done 7 years ago. I was nervous for the audition but had a blast and immediately hit it off with the producers, who complimented my signature 'drowned in Lilac' outfit.
An Audiobook Series!
In the last edition, I mentioned Crystal Cove, the children's audiobook series I had been working on. Well, it's finally been released — go buy it for your kids now! (Or for yourself, I won't judge)
You can also listen to the preview on Spotify, or hear the full version if you have Premium.
Shortly before release, Red, the author of the series, reached out to me on Instagram to say that she absolutely loved what I did and couldn't be happier, which was a lovely surprise.
Another Audiobook!?
Yeah! I booked another one just in time for Christmas.
Last week, I was in London for two days to record a very festive kids audiobook at the very swanky Strathmore Publishing recording studio in Clerkenwell.
A LOT of famous actors have recorded there, so it feels surreal actually to be amongst them... maybe one day I'll even get my picture on the wall.
Hanging out with famous people.
In the booth.
The people at Strathmore were all super friendly and accommodating, and if you're there for a full day, they also provide lunch. Cherry Cookson, a veteran in the audio field, directed and took good care of me during our sessions by keeping an eye on my voice and making sure I wasn't exhausting myself.
Foxy Tongue Voices Meetup
After signing with them in February, I finally met my amazing voice agents, Sian and Alex, along with a group of other Foxy Tongue voice actors in the flesh.
And of course, Sian and Alex both received their Florence mugs and merchandise featuring my signature yellow canary design.
Well, that's all, folks!
See you next month for another addition of what happens when I leave the house :D
Florence x
