The Podcast Show 2025

You may have seen that I recently returned from spending the week in London for The Podcast Show, and boy, have I been tired!

But the Podcast Show was nothing short of spectacular with loads of interesting talks, lots of vendors and a LOT of free swag.

I came away with so much helpful information and a lot of homework, but it's all work that I'm excited to put into practice, and I wanted to share a few of my favourite nuggets of wisdom with you today...

  • Go where your audience is, don't wait for them to come to you.

  • Using social media for your podcast is good to engage people, but it won't necessarily grow your audience.

  • Subscribe to Podcast Marketing Magic and PodNews

  • Survey your audience every few months and ask them, "if this podcast were to disappear completely, how would you feel?"

  • Make friends with people and give without expecting anything in return, it'll come back to you

Sleepless Creatives: Meet Our Newest Guest Reader

Last month we had experienced voice actor and dub artist, Neha Gargava, on the show as a guest reader.

She read us a beautiful article from the Isha Foundation all about getting a good nights sleep and how the moon plays a part in our sleep cycle, you can listen through our website; www.sleeplesscreativespodcast.co.uk

Quick and Easy Spicy Garlic Noodles

Did I mention I was tired? It happens to all of us, we get busy and forget to rest and lose the energy to do simple things like cooking a basic meal.

Especially if you're Neurodivergent, because we take in 10x more information than most people and have a tendency to burn out just as fast.

Here's a recipe that I found online from Tiffy Cooks, the sauce is similar to the Tofu recipe that I shared last time.

www.tiffycooks.com

  1. Cook your choice of noodles

  2. Throw together the sauce ingredients in a bowl: diced garlic, spring onion, soy sauce, black vinegar, chilli oil, chilli flakes and sesame seeds (eyeball it to your taste)

  3. Heat up a few tablespoons of oil for a few minutes (try to avoid sesame oil as it will burn quickly) then pour it over the sauce mix, it should sizzle, let it sit for a few seconds, then stir it together.

  4. Add the noodles to the bowl and stir everything through, then serve with a fried egg on top and some sliced cucumber.

See you next month!

Agents, Videogames & Tofu

New Agents, Videogames and a Tofu Recipe for the Soul

It's been a busy start to the year, and I can finally tick things off my goals list that I've had since the beginning of my professional career almost three years ago...things that I'd spent so long working and wishing for that I had nearly convinced myself that they weren't going to happen.

  1. A new agent! I received a representation offer from an agent in March, just in time for my birthday (woop woop), so I am now represented by Foxy Tongue Voices for all things voiceover in the UK.

  2. A new Video Game! Off to a strong start, this was the first audition I sent off for my new agent, and a few weeks ago, I got the email; I've been cast as one of the main characters in an exciting upcoming indie game. I signed an NDA for this project, so unfortunately, I can't spill the beans until the game is announced, but I had my first recording session yesterday where they showed me some cutscene and gameplay footage, and it's looking awesome.

  3. Podcasting! It's an exciting time over at my podcast production company, Canary Studios, We've had consultations for some very cool and promising podcast clients (one of them a well-known company in the Performing Arts industry), we've re-arranged our pricing to introduce indie and charity packages, making our services more accessible to everyone, and we're in talks with a website design company to revamp the studio website and get it looking shiny and professional.

  4. Conventions, conventions, conventions! I'll be (virtually) attending One Voice next week with plans to go there in person next year, then a few days later I'll be off to London to go to The Podcast Show and soak up as much as I can about the business of podcasting and I've also finally booked my ticket to Develop Brighton later this year.

And lastly, I'm going to give you one of my favourite Tofu recipes, because I had it for dinner after a recording session yesterday and found it to be very soothing on the throat, and it can be whipped up in 10 minutes!

Chilli & Garlic Silken Tofu

Ingredients:

Tofu (silken Tofu works best, but you can also use regular Tofu, as long as it's soft and not firm), black vinegar (this works best but you can give it a try with any vinegar), soy sauce, chopped garlic, sugar (not too much), sesame oil, crispy chilli oil (I recommend the one by Lao Gan Ma, it's elite) I always just eyeball the ingredients to my taste, but if you're unsure just start with 1 tablespoon of vinegar, soy sauce and crispy chilli oil, 1 garlic clove, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and sugar, then tailor to your needs.

Instructions:

Mix the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl and set aside. Put your Silken Tofu in a bowl of water (carefully, silken tofu is delicate) and put it in the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes so it's nicely warmed up, once warm remove from the microwave and drain it, slice the Tofu into cubes (leave it in the bowl to do this as it's very soft) then spoon your sauce mixture over the Tofu (just a small amount to begin with, as it's quite a flavour bomb, put the bowl of remaining sauce on the table and add more as needed)

Then enjoy it either by itself or with a bowl of plain white rice on the side!

Keep dancing, everyone.
